NARI MILWAUKEE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Residential Construction Trades Scholarship

The NARI Milwaukee Foundation supports the next skilled craftsperson, technicians, designers, and service providers in the residential construction sector.

The NARI Milwaukee Foundation Residential Construction Trades Scholarship provides direct support to students of any age getting trained for careers in the residential construction, remodeling or home improvement industry. Scholarships up to $2,500 per semester or $5,000 per year are available for people pursuing higher education in the trades, technical, and creative sectors as they relate to the residential construction, remodeling and home improvement industry.

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants will be required to prove:

  • United States citizenship with residency in southeastern Wisconsin.
  • Enrollment in a technical school, college, or university in southeastern Wisconsin (Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, or Waukesha Counties).
  • Enrollment in one of the following programs*: Architecture, Architecture Technology, Cabinet Making/Millwork, Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Interior Design, Landscaping, Masonry/Bricklaying, or Plumbing.
  • Enrollment in minimum of six (6) credits per semester.

*NARI Milwaukee Foundation will consider other programs of study if the applicant can demonstrate relevancy to the residential construction, remodeling and home improvement industry and how the education is intended to be used. Please submit a written explanation and other supporting documents for consideration. Scholarships will be accepted, denied and/or amount awarded at the sole discretion of the NARI Milwaukee Foundation. 

Application Requirements

Ideal candidates will demonstrate work ethic, motivation, dedication, and creativity in their application.

  • In 300 words or less, write a summary to describe what interests you about the residential construction, remodeling and home improvement as a career choice and why are you passionate about your path of study.
  • Provide at least one – but not more than three – written recommendations from a non-family member detailing why you should be a recipient of this scholarship.
  • Provide proof of acceptance, admission, and/or enrollment of minimum six (6) credits for the applicable semester to a technical school, college, or university within Southeastern Wisconsin 

Submission Deadlines

  • Fall semester applications due July 15
  • Spring semester applications due November 15

NARI Certifications Scholarship

The NARI Milwaukee Foundation offers financial support to NARI Milwaukee member company owners and employees who are working on attaining a NARI certification.

NARI offers a variety of individual professional certifications to help you advance your career and validate your professionalism. NARI Certifications were developed to recognize highly experienced remodeling professionals, capable of planning and managing complex remodeling projects to client satisfaction. Certified professionals possess extensive technical and management skills that set them apart as capable remodeling professionals.

There are seven certifications available, and each has its own set of eligibility requirements and applicable fees. The maximum scholarship payout is 50% of the total combined cost of certification application and the online preparatory course, minus any applicable coupons or other incentives. If you have a coupon or incentive being applied to the cost of certification and/or the cost of the online prep course, the final scholarship amount will decrease by the amount of the coupon or incentive.

Upon completion of the certification exam, the scholarship will be paid to the company or individual who initially paid for the certification. Applicant must inform and prove to NARI Milwaukee Foundation when the exam has been taken 

Eligibility Requirements

Must prove acceptance of application for the desired certification by NARI. Proof of payment for the total amount paid for the certification.

  • Must prove registration for online preparatory course. Proof of payment for the total amount paid for the course.
  • Must verify who paid the application and course – company member or individual.
  • Must own or be employed by a NARI Milwaukee member company in good standing through the completion of the exam.
  • Completed NARI Milwaukee Foundation Certification Scholarship Application.
  • Must prove exam has been completed. 

Submission Deadlines

NARI Milwaukee Foundation Certification Scholarship Applications must be received within one month after the start date of the online preparatory course. Examples if online course start date is September 1, application must be received by October 1. Completing the application prior to the deadline is the responsibility of the applicant. NARI Milwaukee and the NARI Milwaukee Foundation are not responsible for ensuring application is submitted prior to the deadline. NARI Milwaukee and the NARI Milwaukee Foundation can accept or deny any application at its sole discretion.

Endowments

Through the generosity of NARI Milwaukee Foundation donors, Endowed Scholarship Funds have been established at both Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) and Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC). Students attending MATC or WCTC can apply through the school for the endowment funds and directly to the Foundation for their scholarship funds further relieving the tuition burden

The NARI Milwaukee Scholarship for Home Remodeling is available to current MATC students enrolled in a trade-based program and worth $1,000 per semester .

The Mary Fox-Hagner Memorial Scholarship is available to current WCTC students enrolled in a trade-based program and worth $250 per semester.

The Foundation supports NARI Milwaukee education and certification programs, scholarships and similar grants to assist in the professional training of individuals in or entering the remodeling field and other activities deemed necessary to ensure professionally trained individuals are able to enter or advance their career in the residential remodeling and home improvement industry.
